Welcome to SOMA sound relaxation.

Whether you choose a nurturing sound massage or meditative sound bath, the gentle sounds and sound vibrations offer a peaceful space to slow down, relax and just be.

Only let the moving waters calm down, and the sun and moon will be reflected on the surface of your being.

Group Sound Sessions

Sound Baths &  Meditations

A sound bath, or sound meditation, is your invitation to relax into a place of stillness. While nestled under a cosy blanket and supported by pillows and the earth beneath you, you’ll experience waves of sound from a variety of instruments, including singing bowls, gongs and chimes.

Unlike music with a catchy tune, the sounds consist of resonance and overtones that your brain can’t recognise or follow, so instead it’s encouraged to simply let go. That’s when it's free to drop into the daydreamy alpha and meditative theta brain wave states.

The intention of a sound bath is to provide a gentle and immersive full-body listening experience that creates the space for your mind to slow down and your parasympathetic nervous system to engage. This occurs when your blood pressure lowers and you enter into “rest and digest”, which counters the “fight or flight” of the sympathetic nervous system that dominates so many people in our busy world filled with over-stimulation.

Sound and sound vibrations have been used to calm and ground for thousands of years. And now many studies are showing that, in addition to calming the nervous system, the positive effects of sound may include:

  • Improving sleep

  • Boosting creativity

  • Lowering blood pressure

  • Reducing stress and tension

  • Deepening meditative states

  • Easing depression and anxiety

  • Relieving headache symptoms

The fair trade singing bowls and gongs I use are high quality, therapeutic grade and handcrafted according to ancient methods and I follow the Peter Hess® methodology of "less is more" to create sound experiences in a therapeutic way.

Many people find they drop into a state of deep relaxation and calm and carry that feeling with them long after the session has ended.

Available for retreats, events and private group bookings.

If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.

Individual Sound Massage

Peter Hess® Sound Massage

The Peter Hess® Sound Massage is a gentle offering that focuses on promoting deep physical and mental relaxation. In that space the nervous system has the opportunity to reset, the physical body finds harmony and the mind stills.

During a full sound massage session, up to three singing bowls are placed on key areas of the fully-clothed body and gently played. The handcrafted therapy bowls produce a wide range of tones, harmonious sounds and gentle vibrations creating a space for deep healing relaxation.

Much like a pebble dropping into a pond, the singing bowls emanate ripples of vibrations when gently struck with a soft mallet. Because the human body is more than 70% water, the bowls' sound vibrations travel through it in concentric waves, massaging cells and releasing blockages along the way.

Peter Hess, a German engineer, is a pioneer in sound bowl therapy. In the 1980's after spending extensive time in Nepal and researching the healing effects of sound on the mind and body, Peter developed his renowned method of sound massage using singing bowls.  The Peter Hess® method, well-known in Germany and across Europe, has become an established practice in a range of settings, from kindergartens to hospitals, due to being grounded in science.

Sound massage has been shown to:

  • Bolster the immune system

  • Calm the mind

  • Improve sleep

  • Lower blood pressure

  • Reduce aches, pains and inflammation

  • Alleviate headaches

  • Ease digestive issues

  • Increase self-awareness

  • Promote general well-being

This gentle and nurturing massage modality is suitable for all ages, from children to elders.

Peter Hess® fair trade therapy bowls used in your sound massage are meticulously handcrafted in Nepal and India using ancient techniques. It takes six people together over 30 hours to forge a 2kg belly bowl. Each bowl must meet exceptional sound and vibrational quality standards to be used in the Peter Hess® sound massage method.

Please note bookings are currently available for mobile sessions only.

The sound of the singing bowl touches our innermost soul and brings it into vibration. The sound breaks tension, mobilizes self-healing forces, and sets free creative energies.

A Little About Me

I've had a lifelong passion for sound that began with music always playing in our house when I was a child. In my journeys through Celtic Shamanism, yoga and plant medicines, I learned the power of sound as a healing practice.

While working at a boutique plant medicine centre in Peru's Sacred Valley I began holding space, singing and playing music during ceremonies and fell in love with the deep, grounding vibrations of the gong.

Here in Australia, I've deepened my passion for sound through certification as a Peter Hess® Sound Massage Practitioner and I’m incredibly excited by the growing science behind sound as a healing modality.

I look forward to sharing sound with you!

~ Beth

If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies.

~

Sounds permeate our systems, resonating with our essence, so that inner chaos, conflict, and dissonance seem almost immediately to be transformed into harmony.
